Manage clinical incidents, relevant to the practice of urology with the support of the Clinical Leads and Governance Teams

Disseminate anonymised incident reports for wider learning in the urology department.

Maintain and review the items on the Trust risk register, relevant to the practice of Urology.

The successful applicant will be credible to their urology colleagues and agree to undertake training relevant to the role

Main duties of the job

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Ensure timely management of all clinical incidents relevant to urology with the support of the Clinical Leads and Trust Governance teams, showing respect and empathy for all involved parties.

Encourage an open reporting and learning culture within the Trust and support colleagues in management of clinical incidents where appropriate.

Escalate any line management issues to the Clinical Leads for follow up. Escalate all concerns in accordance with Trust policy and regulatory guidance.

Support with the Trust harms process.

Work with RCS/ BAUS to assure standards relevant to clinical governance are met.

Develop sound knowledge of SUI framework and undertake training in Root Cause Analysis, HSIB training and other relevant training opportunities.

Disseminate anonymised incident reports for wider learning in the Urology department.

Manage the risks relevant to urology on the Trust register on behalf of the department.

Always act in a way that supports and enables equality and diversity.

Contribute to or oversee service delivery and service improvement projects relevant to the prevention of future incidents.

Attend (or delegate attendance at) SIRI panel and Patient Safety Summit meetings when requested.

Contribute towards the teaching and training of clinical and undergraduate colleagues in good clinical governance to improve patient safety.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
