This post is only open to current employees of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Diabetes team for an enthusiastic and motivated ward clerk/administrative assistant and to join the existing team.

The Post holder will be based within the Diabetes and Endocrinology Centre at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary to provide administrative support to all members of the diabetes and endocrine team. Filing, arranging appointments, taking messages, ordering and maintaining stationary supplies, dealing with relevant correspondence, letters, reports and files as required under the supervision of band 3 admin support/ANP.

 Duties will include:

  • To provide a welcoming and professional approach to all members of the public and staff attending the Centre.
  •  Deal with sensitive, confidential information and queries regarding patients in the Centre in a sympathetic and reassuring manner.
  •  To be familiar with the clinical system Lorenzo, and be confident to input information as required.
  • To be familiar with non-clinical on line information systems, such as Oracle, NHS supplies, as required.

Development of the role may include changes in technology, methods, systems and procedures. The post holder will be expected, following appropriate consultation and relevant training, to embrace wholeheartedly any such changes in working practice.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
