Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for  Clinical Support Workers to join our team on Wards 2 & 3 in Medical Unit. The wards have been opened since October to support with the pandemic. Caring for medical patients and facilitating rehab.

We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and motivated individuals  with previous care experience and flexibility to work shifts including rotation to nights.

You will receive structured appraisal, support, mentorship and training.

The posts are varied hours per week 

 

Main duties of the job

Giving patients high quality care and attention and ensuring patient safety  .

Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse(RN) providing nursing care and assistance to patients  within defined parameters specified by the registered nurse

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals -Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Completed Trust Support Worker Programme
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in care
Desirable criteria
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 3 in care relate area
  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Manual Handling of patients using lifting aids
  • Previous experience in a care environment

Skills, abilities and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood)
  • Good basic hygiene skills (e.g food handckling, hand washing etc)
  • Ability to work with other people
  • Ability to follow clear instruction and feedback to senior staff
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ensure own actions support equality ,diversity ,rights and maintain quality
  • Understands confidentiality
  • IT skills to basic level
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of the NHS structure and current NHS issues
