Job overview

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the 
Emergency Department RLI.

Be responsible for the day to day supervision of the Business 

Support clerical staff and ensure the team produce work of a 
high standard and are able to meet deadlines.

To prioritise incoming business requests to meet service 

Main duties of the job

To provide day to day administrative and secretarial support to the Emergency Department and Senior Management Team, manage and maintain sensitive and confidential departmental 

Support the Senior Management Team in establishing and maintaining appropriate intranet site and shared departmental drive.

Coordinate & provide administrative support to the Emergency

Department Senior Team, Unit Managers, Matron in governance issues/ clinical incidents eg Ward assurance report, departmental info for the governance boards, sickness reports and managing and maintaining 
effective systems to ensure Trust policies are adhered to.

Coordinate & provide administrative support to the Clinical Lead, Medical

Staff and Clinical Service Manager. This includes legal enquiries from the CPS/Police, disseminating to the correct doctor to complete the statement required, often with a strict timescale.

Organise, plan, minute and action plan departmental meetings e.g.



Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals -Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
