Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to help rebuild the Careers & Engagement Team within the Trust and provide opportunities to those wishing to pursue a career in health and social care. 

The post holder will thrive on engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and actively enjoy working with young people, delivering interactive and informative sessions based on health careers.

The Careers & Engagement Team is rebuilding its remit, as we look to bring back face-to-face activities and opportunities after more than a year of curtailed delivery. 

The team's ethos is centred around inclusivity and offering those interested in a healthcare career, an unhindered pathway.

Main duties of the job

To include:

  • Facilitating events, workshops and presentations;
  • Attend events to signpost and provide guidance to young people about the range of Healthcare career opportunities available;
  • Supporting the delivery of Careers and Engagement activity for health and care across the Bay Health & Care Partner organisations;
  • Plan and organise bespoke opportunities for a range of different educational and employment stakeholders;
  • Development of resources to support the Careers and Engagement activity;
  • Supporting the team with the management of projects, gathering information and undertaking enquiries as and when necessary;
  • Liaising with staff, educational establishments and members of the public.
  • Updating website and social media content associated with the Team’s offers.

Attending meetings with key stakeholders and feeding back key messages.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level
  • Excellent standard of written English
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging with the public and delivering presentations
  • Ability to construct clear reports on activity and outcomes
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills; able to meet deadlines and goals
  • Inspiring, engaging and personable
  • Creative and innovative
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching or training experience
