''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust covers a large geographic area which encompasses the Furness peninsula, the city of Lancaster and the Lake District. We provide a comprehensive range of acute and support hospital services to a population of 350,000 based around Morecambe Bay. One of the largest employers in the area, we have approximately 6,000 staff working across five sites; Furness General Hospital (Barrow in Furness), Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital (Kendal), Ulverston Community Health Centre and Queen Victoria Centre (Morecambe). By joining us you will be part of a progressive team committed to diversity, excellence and achievement.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our team within the Day Surgery Unit.

You will need to:

• Work as an effective team member
• Be flexible and willing to learn new skills
• Support staff in the delivery of patient focused care
• Demonstrate effective communication skills
• Make a commitment to personal development

We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified registered nurse the opportunity to work in an exciting, modern and forward looking organisation. This post is for the Day Surgery Unit at Westmorland General Hospital, which offers orthopedic, general surgery, urology, and ophthalmic and endoscopy services to patients from across the bay. You will be part of a multidisciplinary nurse led team.

The department is committed to appraisal and to support continuous education and professional development. You will be required to provide flexible cover as required.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
