Our Trust is recruiting enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6, and  newly qualified Band 5 Midwives  to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward thinking professional team which serves a wide geographical area with both rural and urban communities.

 

Main duties of the job

Midwives are accountable as the lead professional and have a unique relationship with the women, new born infants, partners and families they care for and support.  Midwives need to work collaboratively with a range of healthcare professionals.

Midwives must provide care based on the best available evidence. They must keep their knowledge and skills up to date to make sure their care is responsive to emerging evidence and future developments.

Midwives work in partnership with women, respecting their human rights and involving them in decisions about their care.

Midwives should optimise physiological processes, and support safe psychological, social and cultural situations, working to promote positive outcomes and to anticipate and prevent complications

 

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
