Furness general Hospital is looking to expand it's Clinical Site Management Team. The post will be to cover a 24 hour, 7 days a week service and will include, day, night and twilight shifts. It will provide a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work closely with all Divisions to ensure that potential breaches of the 4 hour operational standard, upholding the Trust position of ‘zero tolerance’ for non-clinical reasons done so in line with the Trusts Nursing & Midwifery Strategy and will play a fundamental role in the division’s vision for consistent delivery of safe and high quality patient care in a timely manner.


Main duties of the job

You will be required to have a good understanding of both patient flow and site management and will have the clinical expertise to safely expedite discharges whilst ensuring that the clinical areas are supported on a 24 hour basis.

The CSM holds a high level of decision making authority and will be the first point of contact for all external enquiries, near misses and serious untoward incidents.
You will bring enthusiasm, energy and utilising lateral thinking skills when required.

The post requires demonstrable high level of clinical acumen in order to support fellow clinicians and support services in a hospital setting alongside evidence of ability to think on your feet. manage. The post offers excellent opportunities for career development in NHS .


 The post holder will oversee the clinical and operational management of the hospital, ensuring that patients are cared for in a governed, safe environment. 

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Educatioin & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of recent professional development
  • Post registration teaching qualification
  • Specialist training and short courses specific to role
  • Leadership certificate
  • Accredited diploma/certificate in advanced clinical assessment
Desirable criteria
  • Degree level studies in clinical assessment or NP degree
  • Non-Medical Prescriber

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Management or leadership experience at Band 6 or above
  • Audit experience
