''A great place to be cared for; a great place to work''

It is an exciting time to join the maternity teams at Morecambe Bay Hospital Trust with the implementation of Continuity of Carer and working towards Baby Friendly. The only Trust in the North to meet all 10 of the CNST requirements in 2018.

We provide care to around 3300 women across 3 sites that serve a wide geographical area, both rural and urban. We pride ourselves in the promotion and provision of forward thinking, women centred care, within our 2 Obstetric led units and our stand alone midwifery led unit.

The maternity unit at The Royal Lancaster Infirmary supports 2100 births per year. Day Assessment Unit cover 7 days a week, a dedicated maternity theatre, transitional care and a level 2 Neonatal unit that can provide care to 10 neonates requiring special and intensive care.

South Lakes Birth centre located in Barrow- in Furness supports 1100 within a new purpose built unit, a Day Assessment Unit  , maternity theatres , a level 1 Special Care Baby Unit, providing special care to 4 neonates, 2 transitional care beds, and a state of the art simulation suite for multidisciplinary training.

HCMU provides antenatal and postnatal care to around 800 women; this standalone midwife led unit also supports approximately 100 women labour and birth, either at home or within the unit. The unit has recently been refurbished and has approximately a 50% water birth rate per annum.

All areas provide care during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period by our dedicated and skilled multidisciplinary team.

If you are looking for a new career in one of the most picturesque parts of the country, offering easy access to the Lake District, Scotland and Manchester, and only 2 ½ hours from London via the train, Morecambe Bay Hospital Trusts is the place for you! A generous relocation package is available.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our maternity service. We are looking to recruit 2 part time motivated and enthusiastic midwives (22.5 hours, although we can be flexible with hours) to work alongside the specialist perinatal mental health midwife to ensure the delivery of high quality, accessible and equitable care for women and their families who are experiencing mental health issues.

This is a newly created post and you will need to be innovative and organised.

You will be an experienced midwife with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for mothers and their families who are affected by mental health issues.

With the guidance of the Specialist Perinatal Mental health midwife you will provide extra support and care to pregnant women with more severe mental health problems. You will work in partnership with their named midwife in conjunction and the specialist perinatal mental health team and multi-agency partners.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work within a team of specialist midwives who support and provide enhanced care to women who may have complex health and social needs.

If you are passionate about providing care throughout the pregnancy continuum and being part of developing the perinatal mental health service here at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust then we want to hear from you.

Whilst these are part time posts, we are happy to discuss additional clinical hours.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
